Week 12 at Ivey PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 07 August 2009 11:24

Second week of module 2 started off with the e-Bay case building the foundational platform for strategic analysis. The consulting club has been conducting weekly case-interview clinics and on Monday, we had a workshop on Case Types. On Tuesday, we did a finance case that prepared us for the use of monthly cash budgets and pro forma (projected) financial statements using Excel spreadsheets. Personally, I find Prof. Hatch’s classes (finance) to be incredibly well rounded. Not only does he facilitate the cases expertly, but also expose us to a wide variety of miscellaneous topics and news items. Tuesday’s Classes ended with an accounting issue (case) where we analyzed the accounting practices for R&D projects. The second half of Tuesday had two exiting sessions: Ivey Career management’s technology industry overview clinic and a 2*10 idea generation session for new venture project where our ideas were critiqued and challenged by seasoned serial entrepreneurs from Tech-Alliance. It has been a tiring day and the well deserved break (Canada day) arrived on Wednesday. In addition to other cases, the week also had an advanced business analytics mini-course, and a case-interview preparation session.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
