Is Business Management more about common sense or is it MBA driven? - First Week PDF Print E-mail

The first week of the MBA has come to an end. Must admit it has been quite a hectic week, but overall a satisfying one. Unlike yester years, I prefer to remain a bit calm and quite in the class, which my close friends and colleagues might find it a bit weird. I try to assimilate what is being taught in the class and most of my time in the class passes in drawing parallelism between facts and reality. I think I should now stop doing this and participate more in the class discussions.
My days have been now broken down into various segments or should I say components. Not much of an ordeal for an IT consultant, isn’t it? Everyday we have four hours of classes. This is then followed by a lunch break and various other activities in the afternoon. We prepare for each of the lectures in teams and it is very important that we as a team are able to inculcate the fundamentals of the subject before attending the lectures the next day. For the last five days I am have slept at close to 2am in the morning and got up at 6 in the morning. Well was I studying? Sometimes yes and sometimes pondering whether I can utilize my understanding of all my learning in the chaotic business world outside. Is Business Management more about common sense or is it MBA driven?

But then Cranfield is not all about studies. We do have our share of fun and frolic. Last Thursday we had our first social night, based on the 70’s and 80’s theme. Did not know quite as well how to carry myself into the party theme but soon found out that there was enough for me to get involved in.

I have drawn a roster for myself for studies and time for myself. Will try and stick to it, though I am known for breaking the fundamentals of all laws, this is only a roster. Things are starting up here and I am sure I would definitely break at least some of the fundamental strategy curves.
