June is finally here. As part of my International Business Experience (IBE), I will be leaving for China on the 7th June for a week. The School of Management arranges the IBE and it is one of the most awaited events of the MBA year. We will be visiting Shanghai and Beijing. I just finished reading the book ‘China Shakes the World’ and now I have picked up another book on China - ‘China Road, A journey into the future of a rising power’. In the recent past, Rob Gifford was at Cranfield and it was interesting to hear a Western’s view on China. Like many of my Chinese friends in the university, I do not agree with completely. I did get a personally autographed book from Rob and I think it is now one of my most priced possessions.

China Road: A Journey into the Future of a Rising Power

Rob Gifford first travelled to China in 1987 as part of his under graduation study. He has spent almost twenty years in China. He was the Beijing correspondent for National Public Radio from 1995 – 2005. During that time, he travelled on Route 312 from Shanghai to Korgaz.

I do plan to maintain a separate memoir of my China trip and this is the first step towards it. It will be interesting to compare my own country India with China, especially at time when both the countries are growing at breakneck speed.

Before I leave for China, I have to complete my Business Law assignment. In addition, I need to finish writing about IT portfolio management as part of my independent project and even think about my Project Management individual assignment. A busy week I must admit – someone mentioned at the beginning of the term “term 3 is less taxing then the prior terms – how true!”

Quotes

There are a lot of things that go into creating success. I don't like to do just the things I like to do. I like to do things that cause the company to succeed. I don't spend a lot of time doing my favorite activities. - Michael Dell

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
